Join us this summer for the 14th annual Katahdin Area wooden Arts and Canoe Festival. The fun begins at 9:00 am, Saturday August 14 at the Medway Recreation complex beside the Penobscot River. Activities this year include Native basket weaving, Wood crafts, canoe boatyard sales, scenic float plane rides, canoe demos, timed canoe races, music all day, food vendors, chicken bar-b-que supper. This year’s festival features nationally renowned canoe builders Jerry Stelmok and Rollin Thurlow who will do canoe building demos along with native paddle making by Barry Dana. Prizes awarded. Bring a wooden canoe to the festival and enter to win prizes, including paddles, canoe building materials and a $200 gift certificate from Orvis.
